Electronic Daisy Carnival (EDC) has many of the worlds best DJs spinning music for about 250,000 people. Between June 8th to June 10th this year, there was a 3 day music festival held at the Las Vegas Motor Speed way tracking which which I think is 20 minutes outside Las Vegas.
The want people to hear my side of the story so people do not have to judge or assume what goes on at these types of events.
Anytime that anyone every mentions a "rave", please do not assume everyone is going to be on drugs and alcohol. Some events lead to people consuming all types of different things and sometimes it ends up fatal. I would NEVER blame it on the event or the music but the choice of the individual.
When people choose to attend events anywhere, there is always security and searches conducted. If the individual chooses to hide and sneak drugs in then that is their own choice. I don't care that people do this but I wouldn't say the music makes people do it. I don't know what it is but people just like do drugs like "ecstasy" and "mdma" when attending. Let me tell you something, the music is good without it. I think if you are coming to the event for the DJ, why ruin your experience being high and damaging your body.
All you hear in the news is people overdosing on drugs and this I think is making a bad name for this genre of music.
This brings us to EDC 2012 Las Vegas. This event has everything I wished and more. This event had the all my favorite DJs over the 3 days.
Upon arrival each day of the event, we were searched with metal detectors, dogs and manual searches. The event workers and the Nevada police were doing everything they could to prevent drugs into this event. Unfortunately, throughout night, you can look around and notice how "high" people looked. I feel that the workers did their due diligence and the rest is up to the individual. Although I may have had a couple of alcoholic drinks, I can just look at someone and notice something wasn't right about them.
In my opinion, if people want to ruin the night then by all means go ahead. The event itself is setup for all type of music enthusiastic people. EDC was one of the best experiences ever. I know the connection of drugs and music will always connect and always talked about but I want people to understand that isn't always the case.
EDC 2013 has not been set yet but it's coming. If anyone is interested in house music with all the worlds best DJs, I highly recommend this event to you.

I couldn't agree more Michael. There's a huge stereotypical view on people believing that everyone who goes to music festivals or raves do drugs. The media always mentioning about the number of people who overdose during these events and this changes everyone's perspective of these events. I know tons of people who go to these events to just have a good time and listen to new tracks released by the DJ's live.
